Making Extra Money by Selling on eBay!
If you have lots of extra "stuff" around your house, but really don't
want to have a garage sale or yard sale, here's an idea--Sell it on eBay!
It's fun and it's easy!
It's a really good way to sell items you don't need anymore.
If you're a little worried about getting started, here a few of the things
you should know.
Registering on eBay is required in order to sell or buy.
If you already are an eBay buyer, but want to sell, you must open a Seller's
account. It's free and only takes a few minutes.
Once you're signed up, you are ready to list your item. eBay
makes it easy, with the step by step Sell Your Item Form. It's a
good idea to take a few minutes before you start to:
a. write an eye-catching headline-your headline is the way
you draw buyers into your auction, so you want it to be good!
b. write your description-make it complete, so prospective
buyers know exactly what you are offering.
c. decide on your starting price--starting low can get an auction
off to a good start, but be sure you are willing to let your item go at
that price, because you may only get one bid!
You may add a picture to your listing if you like. You can
add one picture for free, but if you want additional pics they are $.15
each. Again, eBay makes adding photos easy, with an easy step-by-step
tutorial.
The Sell Your Item form provides a place for you to tell your
bidders how you will ship your item and how much it will cost.
You also must decide how you prefer customers to pay you- - will
you accept a personal check or a money order? If so, will you wait
for it to clear before you ship the item? If you want to make it
convenient for your buyers, and accept credit cards, you can sign up with
PayPal-- again, it's free! But they will take a percentage of your
final selling price.
Basically, there are 2 fees you will pay: insertion fees and final
value fees.
You can list an item for as little as $.30; the final value fee
is based on your final selling price.
Once your item is all listed, you can keep track of your auction
in eBay's "My eBay" section.
There are other online auction forums, but eBay is the biggest.
They really do help you through every step. Once you have done it
a few times, I think you will agree that it's a great way to make extra
money!
